| 紋章描述 | Deutsch: „Auf weißem (silbernen) Grund über einem Dreiberg auf einem grünen Rasenstück ein junger, grüner siebenblättriger Eichenbaum mit zwei grünen Eicheln.“
Der Baum ist "redend" für den Ortsnamen. "Telge" ist eine alte Bezeichnung für Eiche. Der Baum erscheint erstmal in einem Siegel im Jahre 1255. Telgte erhielt von Bischof Ludolf von Münster 1238 Wigboldrechte. English: „Argent, above a triple mountain vert beset with grass, a young oak tree with seven leaves and two acorns, all vert.“
The arms were officially granted on March 31, 1976. The tree is a canting element, Telge means a young oak tree. The tree already appeared on the oldest seal of the city, dating from 1255. Until the late 17th century all images and seals showed an oak tree with some acorns. The latter were removed in the late 18th century, as a young oak tree was not supposed to have acorns already, but in the mid 19th century the acorns were restored. |
