两国元首会上讨论多项敏感议题，包括南非的土地改革与农场袭击事件。特朗普指出，农场袭击对当地白人农民影响尤深，情况不成比例[2]。他亦重申美国政府及人权团体过去对南非推行“无补偿征地”政策的关注。拉马福萨则回应，强调南非政府正依据宪法和法定程序推动土地改革，以纠正历史不公，同时保障粮食供应与私人财产权益[3][4]。

这场会谈是在特朗普于2025年2月宣布推行“南非白人难民计划”后举行[5]。

会议伊始气氛友好，特朗普与拉马福萨谈及高尔夫球[6]。特朗普赞扬南非的高球好手，而拉马福萨则送赠一本重达14公斤、介绍南非各地球场的精装图册予特朗普[6][7][8]。

其后，特朗普播放一段影片剪辑，当中包括南非反对派人物朱利叶斯·马勒马及雅各布·祖马的讲话与画面，并收录两人演唱具争议的歌曲《Dubul' ibhunu》（杀死布尔人）的片段。有部分媒体形容这段安排是对拉马福萨的“突袭式行动”[9][10][11]。

双方亦就南非白人疑遭政治迫害的问题交换意见。

特朗普带来一叠报章，内容有关南非的多宗凶杀案，会后将报章交予拉马福萨[12]。对此，拉马福萨回应指，南非是一个民主多党制国家，主张暴力的政治人物仅属极少数[13]。

会上有记者问及卡塔尔向美国国防部捐赠飞机一事，特朗普不满提问与主题无关，当场斥责NBC记者彼得·亚历山大，并抨击该电视台[14][15][16]。他更指：“布赖恩·罗伯茨和管理那间公司的人，应该接受调查[17]。”拉马福萨随后笑言：“可惜我没飞机可以送你。”特朗普则回应：“我也希望你有[18]。”

此外，特朗普还向拉马福萨提出一项备受争议且并无事实根据的指控[19][20]，声称南非正发生针对阿非利卡人的“白人种族灭绝”。拉马福萨与其代表团成员严正否认有关说法[21]。

南非富商约翰·鲁伯特亦于会中发言，表示：“我们需要技术支援，需要为每间小型警署引入星链，还需要无人机协助执法[22]。”

翌日（5月22日）有报导指出，特朗普在会议中展示的一张截图，其时他声称画面中所见是“所有被埋葬的白人农民”，实情却是来自路透社一段在刚果民主共和国拍摄的影片，内容拍摄于戈马遭叛军进攻后的场景[23]。该段影片于同年2月3日由路透社公开发布[24]。
