第八次星舰轨道试飞任务（IFT-8）是SpaceX的第八次星舰全系统联合发射测试飞行，于2025年3月6日23:30UTC发射[1][2]。由第二代星舰S34搭配第一代助推器B15。

此次飞行计划与第七次飞行测试内容相似，包括回收助推器、部属模拟酬载以及于太空中点燃发动机。助推器返回必须满足不同的飞行器和发射台标准，若飞行电脑自检未通过、发射塔检查未通过或发射总监未发送手动命令，助推器将默认沿着于墨西哥湾软溅落的轨迹飞行。星舰将在此次测试前次未能测试的项目，部属4枚星链模拟酬载，模拟酬载将沿着亚轨道飞行并溅落于印度洋。并将于太空中点燃猛禽发动机测试未来离轨点火的能力。以及测试多种隔热瓦，如主动冷却金属隔热瓦、特殊外型隔热瓦等，并且安装了非结构性的星舰回收配件、拆除了侧面的隔热瓦[2]。根据向FCC申请的文件显示，若测试顺利，SpaceX打算于第九次飞行测试回收星舰(飞船)，并可能正式进入轨道(速度大于第一宇宙速度)[3]。

2024年7月23日，B15的尾部被发现，显示其液氧储罐旁附加了额外的储罐[4]。12月21日，B15被移至Massey测试场进行低温测试[5]。它于12月27日完成了一次低温测试，并于12月28日进行了额外的测试[6]。测试完成后，B15返回Mega Bay 1进行引擎和网格空气舵(Grid Fin)的安装工作[6]。2月8日，B15被运往发射场并被置于发射台(OLP-A)上[7]。9日，B15成功进行全发动机静态点火测试[8][9]。10日，B15被运回Mega Bay 1准备安装热分级环以及进行发射前检修[10]。25日，B15及其热分级环被运往发射场[11][12]。26日，B15被置于发射台(OLP-A)上[13]。3月2日，B15和S34完成首次堆叠[14][15]。

S34

2024年9月19日，S34的鼻锥被运至High Bay，准备与酬载舱进行整合[16]。组装完成后，S34被移至Starfactory[17]，随后又运至Mega Bay 2[18]。2025年1月15日，S34被运至Massey测试场进行低温测试[19]。1月17日，S34完成首次低温测试[20]，接着又进行了第二次低温测试。测试结束后，S34返回Mega Bay 2进行引擎和后襟翼的安装[21]。2月10日，S34被运至Massey测试场进行静态点火[22]。11日，S34完成了长58秒的全发动机静态点火测试[23][24]。12日，S34被运回Mega Bay 2进行发射前检修[25]。27日，FAA颁布此次飞行许可证[26]。3月1日，S34的模拟酬载装载完成[27]。2日，S34被移至发射场[28][29]。同日，B15和S34完成首次堆叠[14][15]。4日，S34被移下发射台[30]。

第七次飞行测试对即将进行的发射的影响

2025年1月16日，在星舰第七次飞行测试中，初步数据显示飞行过程中发生火灾，最终导致载具的毁坏。SpaceX怀疑火灾是由推进剂系统问题引起的，可能与引擎防火墙上方腔体压力过大有关[31]。

根据SpaceX于网站公布的调查结果，在热分离后约2分钟，液氧燃料箱底部与后部隔热罩之间(俗称阁楼)的非加压空间压力升高，表明可能发生泄漏，接下来的约2分钟内接连有5具发动机执行受控关闭，最终与星舰失去联系。飞行安全系统(AFSS)在失联前保持正常运作，并未手动触发毁灭指令。然而，飞行器在失联约3分钟后于下降过程中解体。事后分析显示，安全系统已自动触发，并且飞行器的解体符合飞行终止系统(FTS)的预期范围。事故的最可能原因被确定为飞行时产生的谐波振动强度远超地面测试结果，导致推进系统内部硬件受损。随后发生的推进剂泄漏超过了阁楼区域的通风能力，最终引发持续火灾[32]。

FAA要求SpaceX对该事故进行调查，并在调查完成前暂停星舰的飞行[33]。马斯克将该事件描述为"只是道路上的一个小波折"，并表示相关问题将很快解决。他还提到，第八次发射可能会在下个月(2月)进行，具体取决于测试的进展情况。
