羅杰瑞（英語：Jerry Lee Norman；1936年7月16日—2012年7月7日），美國漢學家、語言學家，以研究中國方言和歷史音韻學著稱，特別是對閩語方言及滿語的研究。羅杰瑞對中國語言學貢獻重大，包括提出閩語對上古漢語研究中的重要性[1]。
生平
[編輯]早年在加州大學柏克萊加利福尼亞大學師從趙元任、Yakov Malkiel和Murray Emeneau。1965年和Leo Chen合寫《福州方言引論》和《福州-英語詞彙表》。1966年普林斯頓大學福特基金會成立中國語言學計劃，同參與計劃的橋本萬太郎、余靄芹等提出普林斯頓假說，主張擺脫《切韻》的框架，先構擬漢語各方言的原始語，在其基礎上再構擬原始漢語。有志於進行此歷史比較研究的學者團體稱為普林斯頓學派。到台灣調查閩語，1969年完成博士論文，1970年發表《閩方言的特徵描述》。
1971年繼承李方桂，出任西雅圖華盛頓大學亞洲語言文學系主任。先後發表《閩方言聲調的發展》（1973年）、《原始閩語的聲母》（1974年）、《閩東方言的初步報告》（1977年）、《閩語語音中的時間層次》（1978年）、《閩方言的時間層次》（1979年）、《原始閩語的韻母》和《上古南方漢語》（1981年）、《比較閩方言》（1982年）、《閩北方言的第三套清塞音和清塞擦音》（1986年）等論文。1988年出版漢語通論性著作《漢語概說》，成為英語世界最多教授使用的標準課本。梅祖麟名作《中古漢語的聲調與上聲的起源》（1970年）的論點是由羅杰瑞提出，主要證據也是由羅杰瑞收集。兩人合寫《古代江南的南亞民族：一些詞彙證據》（1976年）。
1998年成為退休教授。2012年7月7日因特發性肺纖維化於西雅圖去世[2]。
